Rock City Angels Free MP3s

This is the band that Geffen blew off despite the fact that Chuck Eddy ranked Rock City

Angel's debut album, Young Man's Blues #106 in his book "Stairway to HELL" The 500 Best Heavy Metal Albums In The Universe Copyright 1991.  He ranked them above such greats as Led Zepplin' Physical Graffiti (#112), Led Zepplin 2 (#131),  Black Sabbath's Master of Reality (#120), Van Halen's Women and Children First (#123) & Van Halen 2 (#125), The Who, Who's Next (#129), ZZ Top, Dequello (#130) & El Loco (#134), etc.

Of the album he says, "Beats me why he followed up with such a two-bit promo-blitz, but initially Dave Geffen was so hot on these backdoor boyos he let 'em debut with a double album (or, really, a single-and-a-half, since Side Four's a disco remix!)."

Of the lead singer Bobby Durango, Eddy says, "...But 'Hush Child' catches the mood of the Eagles' 'Already Gone,' and Durango wants that Star Hits cover so bad his torn tonsils keep contradicting his pose with compassionate nonearthtone colors, so when he's not playing with rats or taking on the world in his '66 Chevy there's adolescent romance tearing up the charts deep inside his heart."

The Rock City Angels went on to record over 24 new songs that Geffen never chose to publish or distribute.  Some of these were done as demos in small studios with simple mixes.  The raw power and energy contained in these songs are still great rock today.  We will be placing several on this site for downloading in MP3 format.  Share them with your friends and tell them that RCA is alive and well in Memphis and L.A.  Links to other RCA sights are available and a few pictures taken in L.A.
